I left the village on Friday, not to return for some time. At least not to stay for very long (returning 20-23 July for a conference), which is good, really good. I've come to live with my sis in Copenhagen, Denmark. The weather has been fantastic since I arrived - I hope it stays this way - although my luggage was lost somehow/somewhere along the way (Edinburgh-Copenhagen) on Friday and it was way above 25 degrees in the sun. Me sweating like a dog in my jeans and sneakers, and all my summer clothes stuck in the not-arriving rucksack, which meant I had to borrow some clothes off my sis' tenant...ops. My sis had to go to a summer dinner/drink thingy with her fellow colleagues from newly found job, so I roped in one of my fellow bubble comrades and we sat in the blazing sun drinking for a couple of hours. It was fucking great! It was SUMMER, real sun, real heat, everything that goes with a good old Danish/Scandinavian summer. Such which I miss so dearly back in the village. Its actually so warm here that I sleep badly at night, ok the flat is on the third floor that of course doesn't help, but I love it! I don't care if I don't sleep as long as I can walk barefoot and wear almost nothing. My luggage arrived at 02.30 at night btw, whoever decided that was a good time to deliver it was insane and rude! Spent all of yesterday on the beach that was soooo needed you have no idea. The sun was so strong both of us were in danger of getting sunburnt, but luckily we escaped with just nicely tanned bodies. We made it back to the city centre around eight and it was till pretty hot, and decided to treat ourselves to some outdoor food (and wine) at Hacienda tucked away in H.C. Ørstedsparken (a beautiful small-ish park in the middle of Copenhagen). It was glorious and a perfect end to the day. I really recommend this little cafe/eating place for anyone visiting Copenhagen, but it is small though and can be very busy at times. The burger I had was a perfect burger, no complex fancy stuff added to fit with culinary fashions, but the whole thing was well made and just the right size for a hungry beast like me. The cafe has a nice view over the little lake that the park encircles and people watching is a hobby of mine and this place has everyone strolling by. Today sis and I have had a 'real' lazy Sunday, topped with Lars von Trier's 'AntiChrist'. That movie is not for the light-hearted and there are definitively short moments of disturbing emotional and physical distress and mutilation, and for the more prudish than me there is one close-up of intercourse that might upset someone who might not be so familiar with that aspect of the human drive. I have to be honest and say I found it a well made film, but it is not as fantastic as many of his other films. Maybe because I am not a big fan of thrillers, maybe cause I'm not a big fan of being scared, maybe... Make your own judgement. Tomorrow is a working day and it is quite late already, at least if you like me can't sleep very well in the heat, so I better head to bed.
