So as some of you might have noticed from the lack of activity on my end and the posts of the ex husband, we have now moved out of our lovely modern abode to a ground floor flat that looks like it has been taken out of a 1970s interior design magazine. Nothing wrong with the flat as such in my opinion, it will hopefully keep us dry and warm during the Scottish winter and that is all I am asking for at this point in time. Yeah I know I don't have high standards, but for the price in this overpriced village we are getting a very good bargain. Anyway that wasn't what I wanted to post about of course, it was this theme I started some weeks ago.
Let's start firstly with the fact of moving in this country, you cannot, which you can where I am from, just walk into the post office tell them that you are moving and get them to forward it for free for a month while you send out little notices, provided by the post office, to all your contacts (banks, family, insurance etc etc) informing them of your move. No, you have to contact everyone individually and let them know, and it better be quick or they charge you all kinds of amounts. So once you've cancelled everything you will have to wait about 1-2 weeks for the final bills to arrive, 1 week (although they say 4 working days) to connect the new line and 2-3 weeks to get the internet transferred.
So last night our phone was finally on track, or so it seemed until we found out that the request, sorry order we are customers after all although one would not think it, for taking the same number with us from the previous recidence had not gone through. So I call bt to tell them about this fault, and do they apologise or anything? No, of course not. The guy just said 'Ok now I have ordered the change of telephonenumber for you and that will take about 4-5 working days. Anything else I can help you with today mam?' No!! You can deal with my order in time and apologise for getting it wrong and give me the fucking money back that I will have to pay my internet provider for the whole fucking month I will not have internet because of you bastards, ok? Of course, I know the system here, so I didn't actually scream down the phone, but I really really really wanted to.. Welcome to Greece that's all I can say.
So now I do not know when we will be connected to the world wide web from home again, since I assume the process of moving the internet, to the same number, will now be standing still waiting for the change of number to go through for real this time!!! ARGH!
On a completely different note, yet another point proving my, well ex husband's, theory that this is not the Britain we learnt about in our respective countries across Europe. The postal service and system. What is up with a letter taking 10 days to reach Norway from bloody Scotland? I mean it doesn't even take that if you put it on a boat and sail it over there, it's just across the North Sea, com'on! And when you ask them how long it will take this time around, 'oh it depends on the postal service in the recieving country!' I thought as a rule it should only take 3 days within Europe, and I mean Europe not The Fucking European Union, am I wrong? Am I insane to think that it shouldn't take more than 3 days for a letter to cross the North Sea? Its not the Atlantic for Christ sakes! We'll just have to wait and see how long it takes the letter I sent today to arrive to its destination.
While I am ranting, I have to say something about people assuming Europe means EU countries only, and assuming that we are all part of it!!! Stop it! Learn geography! There is actually a big part of Europe that is not part of the EU, but it does not mean that these countries are not on the continent!!!
ok I'm done for today.
