Blog action day went and passed...

So the email that was supposed to be sent out to me to remind me never reached me, so it never happened...well well - not that I have much to say about the environment anyway. Other than we should really protect our drinking water with everything we have. 80-90% of Oslo's population's drinking water is contaminated at the moment. Everyone's being typically Norwegian about it too, 'oh let's buy up all the water in the stores or else we might run out of water' You fucking stupid vikings, just boil the water for Christsakes and think about the environment a little. Or drink something else for a couple of days, like juice or milk or beer or wine!!! We give out the Nobel Peace prize to celebrate the efforts being made to help undo what we have all done, and you idiots go out and buy bottled (and that's the clue) water because you need water - NOW! (it's because any Norwegian w any respect for themselves knows everyone will do exactly that, which means of course that they have to..and so it spirals out of control IDIOTS) Puppets that's what we are....

Back to the beginning again, blog action day, I got the email saying thank you for participating though, hahahaha. All I was thinking of writing wasn't that mind blowing anyway! I've just been thinking what we all in daily life (you know walking around doing our thing) do to prevent this world from going boooom. So I thought I would state my personal battle, we all have to fight it/prevent it or else - well there is no else really.

Let's start small: I/we buy organic food where I/we can get it, mostly veggies and dairy products (it is Norway and on this point we are lagging behind), and I/we don't eat a lot of beef in general. I have all the 'environmentally clean' cleaning products and try not to use too much when I am actually cleaning. We recycle most of our waste, if we had the opportunity we would recycle food waste too, but living in the middle of Oslo city centre and no council initiative makes it hard, i.e. no garden to make compost. Paper, glass, tins(metal), batteries, electronic devices, old stuff all get's to go to the recycle centre. We use energy saving light bulbs and try to keep the use of lights down to a minimum. We don't have a car, we have bikes. We don't waste water in general, only use the dishwasher or washing machine when its full, and always on the eco programs.
Then for the bad things, the things I should reconsider if I was to become a true environmental activist: I fly quite often, not having a car and having no other possibility of getting to the UK (it doesn't help it's an island), I have to fly. And that of course is a big NO NO! I try to buy secondhand clothing when I can, but seeing its Norway it is even more expensive than H&M, and having spent most of my money on organic veg I'm not about to splash out £30-40 on a t-shirt made from organic/fairtrade cotton - sorry that's when economy comes first the planet second. Not that I buy loads of clothes all the time, but when I do I have to admit the amount of clothing I get for my small allowance usually comes first. I don't even wanna get into shoes - why do all organic shoes have to look soooo old fashioned? And to justify myself a little I don't throw clothes out, unless they're old socks with holes in them, they are recycled too! I'm sure there are many other things I do to endanger our planet even more, but at least I'm trying. And it really doesn't take a lot of effort...maybe a small amount of cash :)
